Fall Festival

Ashlyn's school had a Fall Festival/Fundraiser and we enjoyed a night of dinner and fun activities.

This was adorable.  In the science lab they had a sensory table that we could touch things related to Halloween like Mummy's toes, Skeleton bones, witches eyeballs, and many more.  The kids and I had a lot of fun with it!

When I saw this portable classroom, it brought memories of my first year of teaching.  I miss teaching, but I will hold on to those memories forever.  I love this stage of life!

Oh how much we love the fire pit!!!

After the fire, these monkeys slept in the tent with Daddy!  They had so much fun sleeping on the back porch in the tent!  What a great Dad!

I love this picture!

These are my new Thanksgiving/Fall decorations!  I am excited to finally be able to invest in some fun decor!

While we were at Hobby Lobby, these girls were so excited to see Santa EVERYWHERE!

I wanted to make Thanksgiving fun for the family and so I got this idea on Sunday at church.  The girls will punch one cup each day until Thanksgiving and inside is a prompt for what they are grateful for.  It has been fun to discuss these gratitude ideas during dinner.  I am also glad that they didn't punch them all in one day!

For Mommy school I wanted to pump up the girls with excitement for Thanksgiving and so we did some Thanksgiving crafts.

Turkey Magnets

Ashlyn had her friend Lucy for a playdate at our house.
My girls don't have a lot of girlfriends because mostly in our ward are little boys.  So I am trying to arrange playdates with other little girls.  It is hard to arrange with people because you don't see people at church on Sunday like you would in Utah and I don't know parents in Ashlyn's class to get in contact with them.  I am grateful that my girls have each other to play with and make (hopefully) great/positive memories with each other!

I enjoy our random trips to the zoo.  The kids love it and so do I.  This trip was a bit different where I almost had a heartache because I lost one of them.  It was a terrifying experience, but I am glad that we are all together again!

Texas in the fall

Oh how much we love our family walks/bike rides!  This girl loves her bike! We enjoy our neighborhood and living in a cul-de-sac where there isn't a lot of traffic.  The weather is still in the low 90s or high 80s.  It is wonderful!

Having our Sunday Sundaes on our walk!

The young women did face paint at the trunk-or-treat.  The girls were so excited!

These rascals are a joy.  Bedtime is a wonderful time of day where they get to wind down and spent time reading stories and singing songs.  These are special moments that I will always cherish.  I  need to remind myself on days that "I am done" for the day because these days will definitely be missed.  Right now they enjoy hearing stories about Sierra (stories from Derek and I's childhood), singing "I am a child of God, and laying next to each other as we snuggle before lights are out.

One Saturday we just had a relaxed day being together at home and Derek wanted to shake things up a bit.  He took us to Chick-fil-a at 3pm to have dinner. The kids beg to go, but it is always so so busy.  So this make their day!
Ashlyn loves being so grown up in ordering her own food.  She is becoming so brave and independent.

Funny lip.

The girls wanted to take a family bath...this is it.  Mom and Dad in their clothes with their feet in while the girls are snug as bugs in this tub.

This girl turns 2 next week!  I can't believe how fast time has gone and how grown up she acts.  I sometimes think she is turning 3 because 2 just sounds so little.  Lately she has been asking to go potty in the big potty.  I finally pulled this Minnie potty out and she went potty right after I pulled it out.  I thought she was kidding when she told me she went potty, but she really did it.  She may be ready, but not mama!  We are definitely going to wait this out for at least a few more months because of the convenience of diapers while traveling.

Derek's staff is so sweet.  They said that because the girls don't have grandmas around to spoil them that they bought them some goodies.  The girls were so excited!

On Halloween IHOP has free pancakes for kids to make scary faces out of candy so that is where we went for dinner.

We got home around 6:30pm from Ihop and had the girls chose costumes from their dress-ups.  They loved taking Grandma Martinson's pillowcases that she sent.  Thank you Grandma!

This picture makes me laugh out loud!
Thanks to Angela, Ronda, Megan, and Tamera!
(Derek's Staff)

Our house only had three little trick-or-treaters at our house...the three kiddos you see above.  Guess who is stuck with two bags of candy...we are in big trouble here.

We love Desi so much!  She is fun and bring us so much joy!

The girls have a special spot that is at the side of our house.  They love playing on it.  They call it the slide.

One of the boys in our ward had a birthday party at the Rec Center in the nearest city called Nacodogoches.  The girls had a blast playing with all the gymnastic equipment!

We bought a fire pit and have had a blast making fires to roast hot dogs and make smores.  It has been so much fun! We are starting to make it a weekend tradition.  WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE OUR HOUSE AND YARD.  Derek and I are grateful everyday how much things worked out so we could enjoy our house and make so many wonderful memories!

Ashlyn has the best primary teacher.  She is always going the extra mile and absolutely loves the kids.  Brinley has lately struggled going to nursery and she is the only sunbeam moving up.  She started going to sharing time and sometimes she will go to class with Ashlyn.

I thought this was funny.  At walmart they have 13 doors for milk where there is 1 door for skim, 1 door for 1%, and the rest is 2% and whole milk.

Mommy School
Halloween Activities!
I made this binder of songs, stories, and activities when Ashlyn was very little and I use it every year for halloween fun!

Story of the ghosts that ate food that wasn't white and they turned different colors.

I made this book for Ashlyn one year... memories.

Halloween Bingo

Can't forget the spider rings!

We made mummies for lunch!  Hot dogs wrapped in dough.

One of Ashlyn's assignments.

Mom thanks for the shoes that you bought Ashlyn so long ago!  They finally had enough of stinky feet and decided to breakdown.  These shoes have gone through three of my kiddos and so I was so sad to throw them away.  These were great shoes that have been through a lot!

Mom- do you remember these shoes?
