Dance recital, Emmett's birthday and more

These girls had their dance recital and they did fabulous!!! We are so proud of their hard work all year long!
(This picture was taken on picture day with their dance class)

Fan Club at the Recital

All the girls had rehearsals for 2 weeks before the performance and so I took them on a little date to the gas station for them to get a treat.  They were so excited for their mini m&ms.

Emmett is 1 years old!!!!
Happy Birthday Buddy!!!!
He has brought so much love and laughter to our family.  We are so happy that he is part of our family.  He is spoiled by everyone!

Who enjoys Emmett's gifts more, him or his sisters?

Derek and I found this trial a few weeks ago on our date night and we wanted to bring the kids.  So for Emmett's birthday we went exploring.  I love ow there are so many trees in East Texas!

I love how Derek is always teaching the kiddos.  He is teaching them how to figure out the age of a tree.

The girls found lots of centipedes.

We brought our flashlights so we can see in the tunnel of trees.

We got to the end of the trail that lead us to some track and field equipment.  Of course we had to try them out.  We were a bit nervous at one point when a cop drove by, but he just waved and drove on.

Daddy is jumping

Emmett has been walking for about a month now and he loves his new ability to explore.

We ended our adventure at Chick-fil-a and Emmett eating his favorite: ice cream.

Thank you Grandma Lewis for the awesome water table!

Water train

Making our own bubbles for bath time

Emmett loves exploring outside.

He loves books

These girls love climbing trees and reading books.

We went for a bike ride on Saturday and during our ride it started sprinkling.  It was fun and exciting for all of us then in the middle of our ride it downpoured on us.  We tried to find a tree to huddle under and couldn't find one, then a sweet lady waved us to get inside her garage.  We were drenched!  It was a lot of fun!!!  It will be a memory that I will cherish.  Everyone was a great sport and we laughed during this adventure.  It is fun to have those memories of ordinary moments turn into a spontaneous adventure!

Derek and I were sitting outside watching the girls ride and play.  As they would get close, we noticed that there was a smell that wasn't pleasant.  Derek said it was a smell of a dead snake.  It took us about 15-20 minutes to find the smell and it came from the jeep.  We opened up a drawer and found a handful of dead worms.  I was throwing up with the smell while we were trying to clean it up.

Me throwing up!

For Mommy School we bought a new puzzle.

Ashlyn had a fun Mother's Day Tea Party for Activity Days.  We had a blast playing a game to see how well you know each other.

These two made a delicious lasagna dinner and they were great waitresses when everyone came home for dinner.  They set the table, took everyone to their seats, served dinner, and prepared the meal!

I try to take the girls out to lunch once a month for a special date.  I love this time to talk with them and share how much I love them.  I started this new thing where I write on their finder the first letter of why I love them.  S=sweet sister E=exciting eyes B=beautiful backbend S=shining smile and B=Brave Brinley.  I love when their eyes light up with love and excitment that I share with them some reasons why I love and admire about them.  Then in the middle I write UBU= you be yourself because you are special.
This has become a new tradition.

Lunch Date with Brinley

Love their imaginations and creativity

Ashlyn has been working so hard on a website that tests her addition and subtraction and she worked all year long to get 100% fluency.  Now she is working on multiplication and division.  She was so excited to complete it.  I love the icon that represents her- looks just like her.

Mommy school- learning vowels

Brinley has worked so hard on her reading this year.  I am so impressed with her fluency!  I am excited to see what she will be reading this summer!

This girl ran the 15 minute mile 10 times and earned this shirt for the 2nd time.  She was so excited!
I love how she sets goals and works so hard to achieve them.

This boy loves salmon!

We made our Summer Bucket List!!!

Brinley's teacher sent me this picture when they were walking out to recess.  So sweet!

Reading in the tree!

Snake season has begun.... we found this on the road while driving

Claire did the dishes without being asked!  What a helper!

Future reader!

Ashlyn won 1st place on her art project.  It was hung in the Lufkin Art Museum!

This girl learned to do her own hair!  Ashlyn taught her.

He loves being fed by his sisters, especially when it is his favorite: ice cream.

Sidewalk chalk fun

Peek-a-boo
His new favorite game

He will go anywhere to find sand to play in.

We love when dad comes home for lunch.  We decided to sit in the bed of the truck in the shade.

I am so proud of Claire!  She completed her pre-k Mommy School workbook that we have been working on all year long!  When we started she didn't know her alphabet, but she knew all the sounds (I know that is so weird right?) Now she is beginning to learn how to read.  YAY!!!

Bedtime routine Emmett loves to climb up on the girls' bed.

Matchy matchy for church.
This stage is so fun for the girls to wear the same color.

We love the swimming pool!

These two are the best of friends

We went on a walk after our dinner on our date night and we found the trail that we went on for Emmett's birthday.  Well we were there we found an owl and looked at us straight in the eye.  It was amazing.

Daddy's idea

These girls love books

I learned about this christian app that has a bible story for kids each week and on Sundays we watch for our bedtime story.  The girls look forward to it each week and love the owl in the story named Ollie.

Derek read a book with the girls about Helen Keller and then we watched a movie about her story.  After I taught the girls how to spell cake in sign language.  I can't believe her story- it is incredible that she learned how to read, talk, and has had an amazing impact on the blind community.  She has an incredible story.

We are really into finding new trails and exploring in Nac.  We did a trail called La Nana (which we have done with both grandparents), but this time we did the whole trail.  Everyone was great troopers and no complaining or whining.  It was fun to see places that we have never seen before.

We thought of Nana during our journey because we picked up liter and threw it away!  She would be so proud of these girls!

Tennis for date night!

Derek taught Ashlyn's class a month ago and really enjoyed it!

Ashlyn loves reading in the tree in her special spot!

He loves water!

Brinley did a singing performance at school and she did a speaking part.  We are so proud of her!  She did a great job!

Picnic at the Park!

He seriously loves the sand!
