Happy Birthday Claire, Savoring Powell Park, and more

We worked hard as a family spending a couple of hours filling up these bags with leaves that were in our yard.  It was a lot of hard work!

while having so fun jumping in the leaves

The first of the month there is a skate rink that has a homeschool group and the kids love rollerblading with their friends.

We had a friend over, Madison to play and the girls made cookies and had a drawing contest.
We are entering a new stage of having friends over to play.

Working on our handstands

We love our tradition of making gingerbread houses for Thanksgiving.

Fun at the mall.  We went on Thanksgiving to watch the movie Encanto!  It was a lot of fun and since then we have been jammin to the music.

Before the girls tennis camp, we watched the movie King Richard.  It is about the Williams tennis star sisters. The girls were so motivated to work hard at tennis camp.  King Richard reminded me of Derek at some moments.  There is a scene where he has the family watch the movie Cinderilla and after he asks them what they have learned from it... I love that about Derek.  He is always teaching the kids life lessons.

For Ashlyn's school, they impliment pastel painting.  She is doing a fabulous job!

We are so grateful for Maren and David introducing this new family tradition Pie Night the day before Thanksgiving! Yummy!

We made the most famous blueberry pie

Whenever the girls complete their English and Math Grade Level, they earn a date with mom or dad.  Brinley completed her 2nd grade and she wanted to go to Diary Queen.  I am so proud of how hard she works at school and all the things that she is learning.

Tennis Camp SFA

While they were at camp, Emmett and I had dates at Walmart checking out the seasonal section.

Pictures from school that I didn't buy

Because we don't watch tv very much, they are glued when we go to Del Rio

I love the Good and Beautiful homeschool curriculum because it includes art and cooking.  Ashlyn make blueberry lemon bread and it was delicious.  She did a wonderful job!

More tennis practice.  I even had my own tennis lesson with a couple of adults.  It was a mixture of cardio and hitting the tennis ball.  It was a lot of fun.  I enjoy practicing tennis.  It was fun and scary to try something new.

I have been going through my closet and these are the lesson plans that I used for the 4 years that I taught preschool.  So many memories.

Thanks Grandma for the Advent Christmas calendars.  The kids have now turned it into a contest how can eat their last chocolate last.  Sorry to say that it doesn't take them all month long....ha ha. Thanks for your thoughtfulness.  They look forward to it each year.

Thank you Maren and David for your sweet notes and the cool fossils. We have them up in our kitchen.

Granny is so sweet to cook cookies and send them for birthdays.  It is always fun!

We enjoy going to Powell Park which is my favorite RV park near us.  This is the view we get each morning- NO FILTER

We celebrated Claire's birthday camping- what a unique birthday

Birthday Girl turns 7!!

Brinley has been working hard at her artwork.  Way to go!

We bought this puzzle at the dollar store of Bob Ross and I was dedicated to finishing it.  At first we had Derek and Ashlyn helping me, but then they  gave up.  I finally completed it!

Happy Birthday Sweet Claire!!!

We had a face painting party.  Each person got to paint someone else's in the family.  We couldn't see the final product until the very end.  It was fun!

So beautiful!

I am learning that my favorite thing about nature is the sunrises and sunsets.
I think I want to by a lakehouse and wake up to this every morning.  There is something so spiritual about these times of day.

For MDO school they make these placemats for Thanksgiving.  It is so fun to see their creativity.

Desi enjoying puzzles

We woke up and saw this huge spider web on the tree.

Drawing for part Brinley's schooling.

Ashlyn being silly

We have been reading about different countries and studying a little of their culture.  It would be so fun to travel the world as a family.  I think someone else wants to travel too.

On our hike we had a contest.  Everyone was giving a bubble gum sucker and it was a contest who could suck on it first to the bubble gum without biting on it.

Our days were coming to an end at the KOA and before we went home for good we invited our friends over for a s'mores and hot chocolate party.  It was a lot of fun and colder weather to make it feel like winter.

S'mores ready

One of the traditions that Derek and I have enjoyed is taking the kids on a one on two date with Mom and Dad.  It is something the kids look forward to and it gives us special time to give special attention to the Birthday kid.  For Claire's birthday date she wanted to go to the zoo.  It was perfect timing because it was going to close in 30 minutes.  It was fun to walk around and see the animals with her.

She wanted Orange Leaf

Derek and I wrote on her hands 10 reasons on her hand why we love her.
She is one special little girl

She chose to go to Del Rio

Another Skate Ranch fun adventure with our friends.

We went to the Dinosaur Museum in Lufkin.  The girls loved looking at the fossils (thanks to inspiration from David).

Hiking, hiking, and more hiking

Tennis

The city had an event where kids could learn about the city helpers and climb into cars.  The kids all asked questions and were curious.

Ever since we moved to Lufkin I have always wanted to get our family picture by one of these signs.  Well we were going on a family walk and I saw this sign so this might be THE picture that I get....ha ha
